Up until now I have embedded Internet Explorer as an OLE control in order to view web sites from a PowerBuilder window. The IE ActiveX web browser control is pretty old now and IE itself is no longer supported by Microsoft. Does anyone have an alternative way of embedding a browser control?
The kink is that there is no API for non-appeon autodeployed logic to access this connection cache. That means any independently deployed server side logic must establish its own database connection. This is both a performance and a scalability killer
I am working on a prototype that I started in PB.NET and with the aid of intellisense the learning curve was near zero. Talking with Appeon they recommend that I use PB Classic for the moment and when they get the C# versions there will be tools to port easily from Classic to C#.
